Aircraft Weapons Subject Matter Expert

The job location is Huntsville, Alabama in support of the Armed Scout Helicopter (ASH) Project Office. Scope: Provide technical expertise and coordination for the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior within the ASH Project Office. Support the integration of aircraft weapon systems by providing technical planning, analysis, design, development, test planning and support, configuration management, installation guidance, quality assurance, maintenance training, and management of various crew-served weapons. Travel required up to 25%.
Responsibilities:
• Provide technical support to the legacy OH-58D within the Armed Scout Helicopter (ASH) Project Office for all weapon systems and subsystems.
• Operate within the guidelines and requirements of the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS).
• Assist in describing system conditions and operational environments that may impact satisfying user requirements.
• Participate in ongoing assessments of current and projected weapons capabilities. Provide support in evaluating compatibility, interoperability, and systems integration to ensure that user requirements are satisfied.
• Recommend courses of action which will increase maintainability, reliability, or suitability of installed weapons systems.
• Oversee the acquisition of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) items in support of maintenance sustainment and integration efforts.
• Assess the interoperability and commonality of components/systems that are similar in function to other Department of Defense component programs or Allied programs.
• Ensure that support considerations are an integral part of the weapon system's design requirements and that the system can be cost-effectively supported throughout its life-cycle, and the infrastructure elements necessary for the initial fielding and operational support of the system are identified, developed and acquired.
• Evaluate reported aircraft weapons systems problems, note possible trends, and recommend courses of actions for resolution.
• Participate in hands-on troubleshooting of OH-58D weapon systems and subsystems.
• Conduct weapon systems briefings, as required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is desirable.
• Experience in of Special Operations Aviation is desirable.
• Minimum of 10 years experience with military rotary wing aircraft is required.
• Minimum of 5 years experience managing the performance of aircraft weapon systems is required.
• Experience in the DoD JCIDS process is desirable.
• Must possess, or be able to obtain, at least a Secret security clearance.
Salary and Benefits:

A dynamic aviation company is looking to fill several UH/MH-60 M aircrew positions. The task responsibilities include but are not limited to performing the ferrying of aircraft CONUS, OCONUS and the U.S. territories, conducting Special Mission Tasks, and performing related additional duties as assigned by the COTR or his designee. The personnel will perform functional check-flights and assist the Aviation Maintenance Program Manager.
The personnel will maintain proficiency in their designated aircraft/s, proficiency in all assigned Special Mission Tasks, and maintain a current FAA Medical Certificate. The contractor is responsible for providing its employees with current flight physicals.
Any government travel required under this contract will be reimbursed in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulations (FTR). At times travel may be outside the continuous United States.
Contract Pilots (CP)
The Contractor must ensure the CP meets the following minimum requirements:
— FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
— Posses a current FAA Commercial Rotorcraft Pilot with Instrument rating.
— Have at minimum of 1,500 hours of turbine rotor wing pilot/co-pilot experience. *Preference given to Pilot In Command Time
— DoD school trained in the UH-60 Helicopter, with a minimum of 1,000 hours in type. *Preference will be given to UH-60M flight time.
— Have a minimum of 250 Night Vision Goggle hours.
— Have a minimum of two years experience serving as a mission Pilot In Command or Helicopter Aircraft Commander.
— Have previously qualified in helicopter underwater egress.
— Have the ability to obtain a CLIENT TS clearance.
— Have a current US Passport.
Due to CLIENT security requirements, all contract employees are required to have a Top Secret clearance at or prior to the time of employment and assignment. A background investigation, the scope of which will be at the discretion of the CLIENT, will be conducted on all contractor personnel.
